Native English Consultant / Germany & Ireland

Lillian
Brierley.

Helping ambitious professionals and the organisations behind them communicate with clarity, precision, and presence.

A native English business communications consultant with more than thirteen years of corporate experience. I work with senior teams across HR, finance, legal, and engineering to lift the standard of every meeting, document, presentation, and recording that carries their name.

I'm a native English speaker from Ireland with 13 years of experience supporting clients with Business English communication in corporate environments across Germany, Ireland and beyond.

Without doubt I genuinely love what I do.

LS Business English Communications was founded in 2015 and I now work with multinational clients across Europe. My focus is simple: helping people feel more confident and natural when communicating in English, especially in professional situations where it really matters.

I work with a wide range of clients, many of them in senior roles, and across all language levels. My sessions are relaxed and friendly, and I fully understand the challenges people face, the hesitation, the mental blocks, the missing vocabulary, and the frustration of knowing what you want to say but not quite getting there.

We work through all of that together, from everyday communication to the finer details like idioms, intonation, and those tricky "false friends."

My place of work is entirely online, which means I can support clients anywhere; location isn't a barrier. I also offer proofreading of marketing documents and website content, preparation for company launches and trade fairs, and regular voiceover projects, working with clients across Ireland, Germany, the wider EU, the UK, and beyond.

It's not about perfect English, it's about business, working together and communicating your message across clearly and confidently.

A

Native instinct

The ear for tone, register, and idiom that comes only from a lifetime in the language. I know when something is technically correct but lands wrong.

B

Corporate fluency

I'm not a generalist tutor. I've spent years inside HR teams, banks, legal departments, and technical environments. I understand the documents and the rooms.

C

Two cultures

Working between Germany and Ireland gives me a built in feel for how English needs to flex when it serves a German speaking team or a multinational audience.

D

Direct, useful work

No filler. No vague feedback. You'll know exactly what changed, why it changed, and what to do differently next time.

02Services

Four ways I work with you.

Every engagement starts with a short, free conversation about what you actually need. From there, the shape of the work follows the goal, not a fixed package.

01

Business English
Training.

Training programmes built around the real working life of your team. Group workshops, departmental courses, and ongoing one to one tuition for individuals who need to operate at a higher level in English.

Sessions focus on things people actually do at work: leading meetings in English, writing reports senior leaders will read, handling email diplomacy, presenting to a panel, holding a difficult conversation.

Group Workshops Department Courses One to One
Online sessions Group or solo Ongoing retainers
02

Executive
Coaching.

Targeted, confidential coaching for senior professionals who need to communicate with authority in English. Investor pitches, board presentations, panel appearances, regulator meetings, internal town halls, difficult conversations with global teams.

Most engagements are short and intensive: a focused programme around a specific upcoming moment, with follow up to embed what we worked on.

Senior Leaders Presentations Negotiation Confidential
One to one Online sessions Pre event sprints
03

Corporate
Proofreading.

A professional second pair of eyes on the documents that carry your reputation. Reports, contracts, proposals, board decks, investor updates, regulatory filings, internal policy, marketing copy, technical specifications.

I edit for grammar and accuracy, but also for tone, clarity, and the small things that separate competent writing from confident writing. Tracked changes, explanatory comments, and a clean version delivered on agreed turnaround.

04

Voice Over.

Professional native English voice over for corporate and educational use. E-learning narration, internal training videos, explainer films, on hold and IVR recordings, conference and webinar voiceovers, and any production where authentic, neutral, professional English is needed.

A natural, measured read that suits non native listeners as readily as it suits native ones. Recorded from a treated home studio, with the option of remote direction during the session. Files delivered in any format your producer needs.

03Sector experience

Where the work tends to live.

Industry experience matters in this work. Knowing what a board pack actually looks like, or how a regulator reads a compliance report, changes everything about how I edit and how I coach.

A / Sector

Human Resources.

Policies, handbooks, internal communications, performance reviews, change announcements, and the everyday correspondence that shapes how staff experience the company.

  • Policy & handbook drafting
  • Internal comms & announcements
  • Appraisal & review language
  • Multinational HR teams
B / Sector

Finance & Banking.

Annual reports, investor updates, fund documentation, board reports, RFPs, and the kind of carefully calibrated language that finance audiences respect.

  • Annual & quarterly reports
  • Investor & LP communications
  • Fund documentation
  • Board reporting
C / Sector

Legal & Compliance.

Contracts, regulatory submissions, compliance manuals, briefs, and policy documents where precision is not aesthetic, it's protective.

  • Contract review for clarity
  • Regulatory submissions
  • Compliance manuals
  • Internal policy
D / Sector

Technical & Engineering.

Manuals, specifications, white papers, and product documentation, often written by brilliant engineers whose first language is not English but whose work depends on being understood by people whose first language is.

  • Technical specifications
  • User manuals
  • White papers
  • Product documentation
04Approach
Communication is not the polish on top of the work. It is the work. When the words are right, decisions get made faster, deals close cleaner, and teams pull in the same direction.

05How it works

A simple, honest process.

i.

A short call

Twenty minutes, free of charge. You tell me what you need, I tell you honestly whether I'm the right person to help and what it would look like if I am.

ii.

A proposal

A clear written outline of the work, the timeline, the deliverables, and the cost. No fixed packages, no upselling, no surprises.

iii.

The work

I deliver. You get something measurably better than what you came in with: a sharper document, a more confident leader, a team that communicates more cleanly. We review, refine, and continue if it makes sense.

06Common questions

Frequently asked.

Do you work with individuals, or only with companies?

Both. Most companies engage me for training programmes, proofreading retainers, or executive coaching for a named senior leader. I also take on direct one to one clients: senior professionals who want to invest in their own communication outside any company arrangement. The work is the same. Only the invoice changes.

What level of English do clients usually have when they start?

Almost always advanced. The people I work with already speak fluent professional English. The gap they want to close is the one between fluent and excellent: tone in writing, presence in presentations, precision under pressure. If your team is at beginner or intermediate level, I'll happily refer you to a colleague better suited to that work.

How is your training different from a language school?

Language schools teach English as a subject. I work with English as a tool inside a specific job. Sessions are built around the actual emails, reports, meetings, and presentations that fill your week. The measure of success is not a level certificate. It's whether your work is landing better.

Where are you based, and where do you work?

I'm based between Ireland and Baden-Württemberg, and I work entirely online. That means clients anywhere with a stable connection get the same focused attention as clients down the road. Sessions, recordings, and document work all happen remotely.

Working online from day one keeps overheads low, scheduling flexible across timezones, and lets me support teams in different cities of the same company at the same time. Most clients tell me they get more done in a focused 90 minute online session than they would have in a half day of in person work.

What does it cost?

It depends on the work, and I won't quote a fixed rate without first understanding what you need. After our short call, you'll get a written proposal with a clear price. Engagements range from short proofreading turnarounds at project rate, to monthly proofreading retainers, to coaching sprints, to multi month corporate training programmes priced per session or per cohort.

Can you turn proofreading around quickly?

Often, yes. A short document with same day or next day turnaround is usually possible if you give me notice. Larger projects take longer and we agree the timeline up front. Rush work is welcomed; surprise rush work is what gets diaries into trouble.

Do you offer ongoing retainers?

Yes, and most clients prefer them. A monthly retainer typically covers a defined volume of proofreading, a regular coaching session, or both. It removes the friction of negotiating each piece of work and means I'm familiar with your house style, your team's voice, and the documents that recur.

What kind of voice over work do you take on?

Corporate and educational projects mostly: e-learning modules, internal training, induction videos, explainer films, on hold messages, IVR menus, conference and webinar narration. The common thread is professional content that needs a clean, neutral, native English voice that lands well with international audiences.

I record from a treated home studio. Your producer can join the session remotely to direct, or you can send a brief and I'll deliver finished files. Pricing is per script, with rates depending on length, usage, and turnaround.
